Hi Lesley and thank you! I tried to write something that I wish I would have been told when I first arrived; and really happy to hear others including yourself enjoyed it too. I just wanted to say thank you so much for putting yourself down for a 12 month subscriber; I didn’t realise this until a few days ago as I didn’t see your name associated with it until I went into my settings; but you have no idea how lovely that was and what an encouragement boost it gave me ☺️
Amazing guide indeed! Only missing the Museum of Photography and Berlinische Galerie. And heaps more, especially if mentioning Fotografiska. But maybe this should be a whole different guide then.
Thanks! Planning to add them. Tomorrow, I’m going to Museum of Photography, but I want to make sure I’ve been everywhere on the list and have something original to say. Berlinische Galerie, I’ll check out soon too. Fotografiska isn’t really my thing, as the tone maybe suggests in my list; a photography space for people who don’t like photography…
Wow, thank you so much for this photographer’s guide to one of my favorite cities! Really comprehensive and well done. You make me want to book my next visit already!
Thank you so much, Ari. I've enjoyed photographing this city thus far and you've just given me a bunch more pins and untouched neighbourhoods for my Google Maps
Happy to hear. I've definitley enjoyed walking around the lesser known parts of the city more than the well-trodden path. Hope to add some more spots to the list soon.
Great work! I "hate" Berlin for many reasons and most of the creative people I know want to leave ... but there are no alternatives in Germany. Unfortunately it is the only "real" city we have ...
Thank you for this awesome Guide! As a photographer I have been thrilled to capture this city on many visits in the last 40 years, and especially all the changes. My most recent one was last fall just for two weeks as I am planning to live there over the summer. Lots of rainy weather in October of 24 which led to some Moody lighting, but summertime and late night sunsets should be amazing come this summer! Thank you so much for describing the neighborhoods which will help me when I am looking for a place to work and live. Looking forward to more of your work!
Thank you for reading and glad you liked it. The summers are fantastic here and there's so much going on and really feel life is lived on the streets. The sunsets, as you say, are fantastic.
I just read that The Museum of Photography/Museum für Fotografie, on the top floor, above the Newton Foundation has a mixed photographer exhibition of Polaroids coming. Make sure you include that when you go! Starts in March.
So useful. I spent two long days in Berlin a year or so ago and I can’t wait to go back to shoot more. Especially spending more time in the east side, love this vibes
Wow this is amazing! So nice to bump into you on Substack. This guide is insane, what a comprehensive yet succinct list of targets for my next photo mission in Berlin. Great and generous work 🙏🏻
Holy shit. This is a killer way to do a guide. 🫡
Thank you! I really appreciate that.
Fabulous! I wish i'd had this as a guide before i visited Berlin. And who would have imagined the Stasi leadership having quaint embroidered cushions?

The least a benignly neglectful godmother could do 🥰

Thank you. I can see how it's a city that elicits strong feelings either way. But as you say, this is the only "real" city in Germany

Could be very interesting!
Thanks Søren, I’ll definitely be checking it out.
Wow, this is great! I am not a big fan of Berlin though… 🙈
Thank you! I can see how Berlin wouldn’t be everyone’s ‘cup of tea’ though.
Great job. Helmut Newton Foundation? If you are near Camera Work anyway?
Thanks Søren! I haven’t checked out the Helmut Newton Foundation, but I’m gonna do just that and add it to the list.
Great tips. I really should visit Berlin again anytime soon. Thanks man
Thanks, appreciate that. Glad you liked it. It’s certainly worth visiting again, and I’m sure lots has changed.
I was checking out the links and noticed up the block from C/O Berlin is "Museum für Fotografie" just outside the zoo. Have you been to this museum?
Amazing guide BTW! Seeing all of the photography stuff makes me want to get back!
Good point, I haven’t been yet, but I will be checking it out soon and adding to the guide.
Wow! Great guide!
Thanks Rhys, really appreciate it 🙏🏻
Thats a GUIDE!
